A New Jersey family is grieving the loss of a father, who police say was killed by a carjacker in broad daylight Saturday afternoon. <\/p>\n
John Aponte Alarcon, a 46-year-old delivery driver out of Elizabeth, was working in Newark over the weekend when a suspect jumped inside his car, Essex County prosecutors said. <\/p>\n
Alarcon had left this car to make a delivery near Bergen Street and Hawthorne Avenue when the suspect made his move just before 1 p.m. <\/p>\n
Prosecutors said Alarcon held onto the car to try and stop the carjacker from getting away with his vehicle. <\/p>\n
The carjacker then crashed into a parked car, causing it to flip over and crash the 46-year-old to death, officials said. The man was rushed to University Hospital but did not survive his injuries. <\/p>\n
Police are still looking for the suspect, who ran off. <\/p>\n
