{"id":189459,"date":"2026-04-08T11:57:13","date_gmt":"2026-04-08T11:57:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/189459\/"},"modified":"2026-04-08T11:57:13","modified_gmt":"2026-04-08T11:57:13","slug":"new-schnitzel-haus-location-nears-opening","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/189459\/","title":{"rendered":"New Schnitzel Haus location nears opening"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>BAY RIDGE \u2014 After months of delays, German restaurant Schnitzel Haus seems to be making its official comeback to Bay Ridge.<\/p>\n<p>Owner Fred Urban announced that the restaurant is just weeks away from opening its new location, 114 Bay Ridge Ave.<\/p>\n<p>The space used to be Casa Pepe, a Spanish restaurant that closed in 2019 after being in the neighborhood for 40 years.<\/p>\n<p>The old Schnitzel Haus location at 7319 Fifth Ave. closed its doors last October. It was open for 18 years.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe truly underestimated the amount of work required to get up and running and the obstacles that the city throws at small business owners,\u201d he said. \u201cBut we are getting there. A few more weeks.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Urban posted a couple of exterior photos on Facebook as work started.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/Newlocation2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-379304\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/Newlocation2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"2048\" height=\"1536\"  \/><\/a>Work continues for the new Schnitzel Haus location, the former site of Casa Pepe. Photo: Fred Urban<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCan\u2019t wait for [wife and co-owner] Amber and me to open our doors and welcome everyone into our new place,\u201d he told his customers. \u201cWe miss you all. We truly want to have everyone experience the hard work that we have put into renovating.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The new location was slated to open sooner, but obstacles have delayed the opening.
