The Cut<\/a> in \u201cWhat Broke the Beckhams?\u201d Brooklyn was accidentally called \u201cDavid\u201d twice by the elderly rabbi who married him, a moment that was described by a witness as \u201cuncomfortably Oedipal.\u201d<\/p>\nAs the outlet put it, \u201cIt was a luxury fairy tale, perfectly planned and executed\u2014until the vows, when the elderly rabbi called Brooklyn \u2018David.\u2019 He stuttered and asked for forgiveness; he was a soccer fan, the rabbi said. He made the mistake only once more before the ceremony was over.\u201d<\/p>\n
Apparently the mistake was \u201claughed off\u201d in the moment, but it\u2019s just one of the many yikes things that went down at this wedding\u2014according to Brooklyn himself! As a reminder, he said in his statement “My mum cancelled making Nicola’s dress in the eleventh hour despite how excited she was to wear her design, forcing her to urgently find a new dress.\u201d He also accused his parents of trying to \u201cbribe me into signing away the rights to my name\u201d and said that during wedding planning \u201cmy mum went so far as to call me ‘evil’ because Nicola and I chose to include my Nanny Sandra, and Nicola’s Naunni at our table, because they both didn’t have their husbands.\u201d<\/p>\n
Brooklyn added that before the wedding, his family told him that Nicola was “not blood,” and claimed Victoria “hijacked” his first dance, saying “In front of our 500 wedding guests, Marc Anthony called me to the stage, where in the schedule was planned to be my romantic dance with my wife but instead my mum was waiting to dance with me instead. She danced very inappropriately on me in front of everyone. I’ve never felt more uncomfortable or humiliated in my entire life. We wanted to renew our vows so we could create new memories of our wedding day that bring us joy and happiness, not anxiety and embarrassment.”<\/p>\n
