With the Easter holidays now behind us\u2014a period during which we caught an unexpected glimpse of Queen Letizia<\/a> attending a Good Friday procession in the Madrid district of Carabanchel\u2014official royal life is back on schedule. For last week’s solemn occasion, she was joined by her husband, King Felipe VI, and their two daughters, Princess Leonor, 20, and 18-year-old Infanta Sof\u00eda. Appearing remarkably reserved and understated, the Spanish queen steered well clear of the more vibrant trends usually found in her spring repertoire, eschewing her signature colourful tailoring<\/a>, patterned dresses<\/a> and eye-catching separates in favour of a black coat and scarf.<\/p>\n

Today, however, her ensemble returned to a classic mid-season aesthetic. Braving a warm but drizzly day in the Spanish capital, the Queen stepped out to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the “Talento Joven” (Young Talent) programme, held at the headquarters of the Spanish Chamber of Commerce in Madrid.<\/p>\n

With this latest appearance, Queen Letizia confirmed that a matching two-piece look remains her ultimate spring staple; notably, this is the first full trouser suit she has championed since the season officially began.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Looking back at her recent engagements, her choices have been somewhat more eclectic: on 20 March, she opted for a sophisticated white tweed dress<\/a> for a visit to the Pope, followed by an embroidered jacket and skirt ensemble to receive the President of Senegal on 25 March. Just a day later, she pivoted back to separates, pairing a blue tweed jacket with black trousers for an audience at the Zarzuela Palace.<\/p>\n

In fact, in order to find the last time she donned a traditional matching two-piece, you’d have to look back to 13 March. On that day, in Alcal\u00e1 de Henares, the Queen debuted a chic grey suit from Zara<\/a> for the closing ceremony of a Master\u2019s degree in International Reporting.<\/p>\n

A Nod to Her ‘Princess of Asturias’ Era<\/p>\n

What is particularly striking about today’s look is the specific styling “formula” she has chosen to revisit\u2014a combination that feels like a nostalgic nod to her years as the Princess of Asturias. To soften the structured lines of her suit, she opted for a vibrant, multicoloured floral top that feels quintessentially spring-like.<\/p>\n

This particular pairing\u2014a neutral suit elevated by a colourful or patterned blouse\u2014takes us right back to her early years within the Royal Family. It was a signature look even during her days as the fianc\u00e9e of the then-Prince Felipe<\/a>. Indeed, she famously leaned into this aesthetic on 17 May 2004, when she met with then-President Jos\u00e9 Luis Rodr\u00edguez Zapatero just five days before her and Felipe’s royal wedding.<\/a><\/p>\n

The top she debuted this Wednesday morning, paired seamlessly with a cream-coloured suit, is a design by one of the royal’s go-to labels Hugo Boss<\/a>, featuring a sophisticated ruched neckline. The “scarf-style” draping makes it a perfect choice for the unpredictable transitional weather.<\/p>\n

To complete the ensemble, stylish Letizia turned to rich brown accessories, including a crocodile-effect clutch bag and a pair of ‘Babies’ block-heel shoes from the French brand S\u00e9zane. As for her jewellery, alongside her inseparable Coreterno ring<\/a>, she wore the ‘Superstar’ star-shaped earrings from Valencia-based label Singularu (currently retailing at \u00a317.99). These gold-plated steel earrings have become a fast favourite since she first wore them during an audience at the Zarzuela Palace back in November 2024.<\/p>\n
