In the News Discussion &amp; Analysis category, Opinion was nominated for coverage demonstrating <a href=\"https:\/\/nyti.ms\/4tpLfHK\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">ICE deportations<\/a> of people in the United States legally, and a look at fired <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/interactive\/2025\/03\/06\/opinion\/trump-doge-fires-inspectors-general.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">independent watchdogs on wasteful U.S. government spending<\/a>. In the Outstanding Health or Medical Coverage, it was nominated for a reconstruction of the <a href=\"https:\/\/nyti.ms\/4sWz8Ch\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Make America Healthy Again conspiracy theory<\/a> rabbit hole, and in the Outstanding Business, Consumer or Economic Coverage category for its video on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2025\/11\/28\/opinion\/dynamic-pricing-algorithms.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">dynamic pricing<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Two of Opinion\u2019s nominations were for films from the Op-Docs series. The nominated works were: an animated film that <a href=\"https:\/\/nyti.ms\/3Or8LW7\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">follows a singer without legs<\/a> as she questions why she\u2019s seen as inspirational in the Outstanding Light Feature: Short Form category; and a film that captures an artist preserving a <a href=\"https:\/\/nyti.ms\/4tt3Dzx\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">disappearing glacier\u2019s sound<\/a>, nominated in the Outstanding Climate, Environment or Weather Coverage category.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOpinion\u2019s six nominations showcase the ambition and impact of our original video journalism and the creative range of our curation in Op-Docs. I couldn\u2019t be more proud of the teams that produced these films and the work they do every day to bring incredible storytelling alive for our audiences,\u201d said Opinion editor Kathleen Kingsbury.<\/p>\n<p>The newsroom was nominated in the Outstanding Investigative Coverage: Short Form category for an investigation into how Andrew Tate and his brother, Tristan, were <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=0w-ZTxqCcFc\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">freed<\/a> from Romania \u2014 where they were under criminal investigation, accused of coercing women into pornography \u2014 after courting powerful figures on the American right to gain their freedom. Coverage from Video was also nominated in the Outstanding Investigative Coverage: Short Form category for a series of short-form videos on the Department of Government Efficiency, led by Elon Musk, that reviewed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/video\/us\/politics\/100000010011611\/musks-cost-saving-claims-are-wrong-in-so-many-ways.html?unlocked_article_code=1.ZFA.0kI7.Ln4VQ_OgOYW_\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Musk\u2019s cost-saving claims<\/a>, the initiative\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/video\/us\/politics\/100000010047426\/elon-musks-team-is-less-transparent-and-still-making-big-errors.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">big errors<\/a>, DOGE\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/video\/us\/politics\/100000010142011\/musks-team-claims-more-false-savings.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">false claims<\/a> and its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/video\/us\/100000010274186\/how-the-va-and-doge-misreported-big-savings.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">misreported savings<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The newsroom was also nominated for Outstanding Continuing Coverage: Long Form, for a package of reporting on the war in Gaza, which brought forward details never seen before. Video captured the harrowing <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/video\/world\/middleeast\/100000010207629\/gaza-israeli-strike-palestinian-girl-silhouette-fire.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">escape of a young Palestinian girl<\/a> from an Israeli strike, and took a look at the suffering in Gaza during <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/video\/world\/middleeast\/100000010370105\/nasser-hospital-gaza-israel-attack-videos.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">two years of war<\/a>. Video also went behind the scenes to document <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/video\/world\/middleeast\/100000010140613\/israel-gaza-medics-attack-idf.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">six deadly minutes<\/a> in which Israeli soldiers killed 15 rescue workers, while another piece explored the contradictory claims around a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/video\/world\/middleeast\/100000010370105\/nasser-hospital-gaza-israel-attack-videos.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">deadly hospital attack<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese nominations reflect the breadth of our newsroom and commitment of our journalists, from urgent war coverage to rigorous investigations,\u201d said Solana Pyne, the newsroom\u2019s Video director. \u201cIt\u2019s incredibly rewarding to see this hard work recognized.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Find the full nomination list <a href=\"https:\/\/theemmys.tv\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/47th-News-Documentary-Emmy%C2%AE-Awards-Nominees-Report-2026-04-06_v2.pdf\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>.
