The drug dealer known as the \u201cKetamine Queen\u201d<\/a> who was convicted in the overdose death of \u201cFriends\u201d star Matthew Perry was sentenced to 15 years Wednesday for the crime.<\/p>\n

Jasveen Sangha, 42, was one of five people who pleaded guilty for their roles in Perry\u2019s 2023 death, but the only one whose plea deal included an acknowledgment of causing the actor\u2019s death.<\/p>\n

During the sentencing hearing, Perry\u2019s stepfather, Keith Morrison, addressed the court and Sangha.<\/p>\n

Morrison called Perry a \u201cbrilliant and talented man,\u201d adding he should have \u201chad another act.\u201d The news veteran got choked up during his statements. <\/p>\n

\u201cI fell bad for you Miss Sangha. I don\u2019t hate you. You are a drug dealer,\u201d he said to an emotional Sangha. Sangha was dressed in a white jump suit with her ankle shackled. She grabbed tissues from a box in front of her to wipe away her tears.<\/p>\n

The \u201cKetamine Queen\u201d operated a sophisticated drug distribution hub out of a \u201cstash house\u201d\u00a0in her North Hollywood home. BACKGRID<\/p>\n

Sangha also addressed the court during the sentencing. \u201cI take full responsibility,\u201d she said, adding she had the \u201crug of life ripped out\u201d from under her.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe pain you\u2019ve caused to hundreds maybe thousands is irreversible,\u201d Debbie Perry, who is married to Matthew Perry\u2019s father, John Bennett Perry, wrote in a victim impact statement ahead of the sentencing.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere is no joy to be found, no light in the window. They won\u2019t be back. That thought comes through our day everyday. No escape. You caused this. You who has talent for business. Enough to make money. Chose the one way that hurts people.\u201d<\/p>\n

She added: \u201cTo the court: please give this heartless woman the maximum prison sentence so she won\u2019t be able to hurt other families like ours.\u201d<\/p>\n

A furious Mark Geragos, who represented Sangha, spoke to reporters outside the courthouse.<\/p>\n

\u201cNo one was going to stop Mr. Perry from what he was doing \u2026 addiction will not be cured here by the sentence you hand down.\u201d<\/p>\n

Sangha, a dual British-American citizen<\/a>, operated a sophisticated drug distribution hub out of a \u201cstash house\u201d\u00a0in her North Hollywood home. Federal prosecutors say she catered to \u201chigh-end\u201d clients, using her profits to fund a and glamorous lifestyle.<\/p>\n

Prosecutors said Sangha sold Perry a fatal batch of ketamine \u2014 specifically 25 vials of the drug for $6,000 \u2014 just four days before he died. Her plea deal included a direct admission that her drugs caused the actor\u2019s death.<\/p>\n

While her defense described her as an educated woman with a master\u2019s degree who made a mistake, prosecutors pointed to her previous criminal record and initially sought 15 years of prison.<\/p>\n

Before her indictment last year, the 42-year-old\u2019s social media accounts showcased a jet-setting lifestyle, featuring photos of herself in luxurious settings in Spain, Japan and Dubai, as well as glimpses of her dual homes in London and Los Angeles.<\/p>\n

Perry \u2014 widely known for his role as\u00a0Chandler Bing\u00a0on the sitcom\u00a0\u201cFriends\u201d\u00a0\u2014 was found dead in a hot tub at his Los Angeles home on Oct. 28, 2023.<\/p>\n

A medical examiner ruled his death was caused by the acute effects of ketamine, a surgical anesthetic.<\/p>\n

Sangha became the third of five defendants to be sentenced after pleading guilty in connection with the overdose of the 54-year-old actor.<\/p>\n

Dr. Salvador Plasencia, who illegally sold ketamine to Perry and injected him, was sentenced to two and a half years in prison. <\/p>\n

Dr. Mark Chavez, a San Diego doctor who ran a ketamine clinic and was the source of the doses that Plasencia sold to Perry, received eight months of home detention and three years of supervised release.<\/p>\n

Perry\u2019s assistant, Kenneth Iwamasa, and Erik Fleming have also pleaded guilty and are awaiting sentencing.<\/p>\n
