What began as a brief verbal exchange, escalated within seconds.<\/p>\n<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">Police say one of the suspects struck the victim with a metal pipe, while the other slashed him across the abdomen before both fled westbound on Westchester Avenue. Surveillance images released by investigators show the two men believed to be involved.<\/p>\n<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">Aracely says her son did not know the attackers and believes the assault was completely unprovoked. She described the moment she learned what happened as \u201ca mother\u2019s worst nightmare.\u201d<\/p>\n<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">Despite serious injuries, her son is now focused on healing.
