{"id":190195,"date":"2026-04-08T23:01:21","date_gmt":"2026-04-08T23:01:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/190195\/"},"modified":"2026-04-08T23:01:21","modified_gmt":"2026-04-08T23:01:21","slug":"maniac-who-shot-guard-at-manhattan-homeless-shelter-had-been-banned-for-selling-crack-officials","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/190195\/","title":{"rendered":"Maniac who shot guard at Manhattan homeless shelter had been banned for selling crack: officials"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The maniac who <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/03\/30\/us-news\/security-guard-shot-near-nycs-madison-square-park-in-broad-daylight-attack\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">shot and wounded a security guard at a Manhattan affordable housing building<\/a> had been banned from the\u00a0residence for selling crack, officials who charged him with attempted\u00a0murder said Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>Shaqueal Parker, 31, was arrested Tuesday at his girlfriend\u2019s home\u00a0after a week on the lam for allegedly shooting guard Vladimir Supris, 49, on March 30,\u00a0authorities and sources said.<\/p>\n<p>The shooting erupted steps\u00a0from The Prince George residence on Madison Avenue near East 28th Street in NoMad, after Parker confronted Supris\u00a0about being booted from the building, prosecutors\u00a0said in Manhattan Criminal Court\u00a0Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>Shaqueal Parker, 31, was picked up on a warrant for allegedly shooting the 49-year-old worker in broad-daylight March 30 on Madison Avenue near East 28th Street in NoMad, cops said. obtained by NY Post<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMoments before the shooting, the defendant accosted the victim on the street and demanded to know when he would be allowed back in the same building. He said he needed to make a livelihood to sell crack,\u201d said Manhattan assistant\u00a0district attorney Ethan Leonard.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Supris suffered two gunshot wounds, including one that \u201cpierced his spine\u201d and may have\u00a0\u201cparalyzed\u00a0[him] from the waist down,\u201d Leonard said.<\/p>\n<p>Supris was off-duty and out for lunch when he was shot,\u00a0according to sources, and was taken to Bellevue Hospital, where he was listed in stable condition.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>He suffered a massive head wound and has since had two\u00a0surgeries, including one that took seven hours, the sources said. He was still hospitalized as of Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>Parker \u2014 who has a lengthy criminal history that includes an alleged home invasion and kidnapping at gunpoint \u2014\u00a0was charged with attempted murder, assault in the first degree and other charges.<\/p>\n<p>He\u00a0appeared in court wearing a medical mask and a white t-shirt and his bail was set at $375,000 or a $825,000 partially secured bond.<\/p>\n<p>The guard was shot in the torso and listed in stable condition, police said. Robert Miller for NY Post<\/p>\n<p>In 2015, he was convicted of a home invasion in Florida in which he held victims at gunpoint with two accomplices.<\/p>\n<p>Parker was then arrested on\u00a0August 27, 2024 for allegedly flipping over a bench where a 55-year-old man was sitting \u2013 knocking him to the ground \u2013 at Fifth Avenue and East 28th Street, cops said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>He was also convicted of possession of a concealed weapon in California in January 2025, and was later\u00a0convicted of assault\u00a0in Manhattan the same year, according to prosecutors.<\/p>\n<p>A worker at the Latham Hotel next to the\u00a0residence, which is run by the organization Breaking Ground to help formerly homeless folks get back on their feet,\u00a0told\u00a0The Post\u00a0he stepped outside when he heard two gunshots on March 30.<\/p>\n<p>Parker was also charged with assault and criminal possession of a weapon, police said. He was bleeding from his stomach \u2013 around that area,\u201d the hotel employee said. \u201cEverybody got here fast \u2013 the police, the ambulance\u2026.maybe that\u2019s what saved his life.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Law enforcement sources said last week that Parker was \u201crestricted\u201d from entering\u00a0the housing facility.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI heard it\u2019s someone who wanted to get in but [the guard] wouldn\u2019t let him in,\u201d a 35-year-old man who had lived in the\u00a0dwelling\u00a0for 3 years told The Post. \u201cThey are strict here. They must have told him not to let the guy in and he didn\u2019t.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat\u2019s f\u2013ked up,\u201d he added. \u201cYou gonna [try to] kill a man for doing his job.\u00a0You are the one who f\u2013ked up, you know what I\u2019m saying?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\tStart your day with all you need to know\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<p class=\"inline-module__cta\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\tMorning Report delivers the latest news, videos, photos and more.\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\tThanks for signing up!\n\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<p>Daffeny Barochin, 30, who had lived\u00a0there\u00a0for about a year, said the wounded guard is usually very \u201crespectful,\u201d and that she didn\u2019t understand why someone would target him.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhere did that excessive anger come from that got him to pull the trigger?\u201d Barochin said. \u201cIt\u2019s a gun, he was trying to kill him or he would have just squared up with him.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve never seen or heard him arguing with anyone so this is shocking to me. I\u2019m surprised it was him,\u201d she added. \u201cHe has a timid demeanor.
