Interfaith Medical Center<\/a>, where doctors said she narrowly avoided suffering a heart attack due to the assault, her son said.<\/p>\n\u201cLuckily, she wasn\u2019t hit in the chest. She\u2019s had two heart surgeries,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Shortly before the attack, the victim and her son were in their backyard arguing with two women, including Linda\u2019s attacker, after the women\u2019s dogs defecated in a vacant lot adjacent to the Scott family\u2019s home.<\/p>\n
That lot has sat empty and abandoned since a fire in 2011, according to the victim\u2019s son.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere\u2019s cars on the lot, homeless encampments, people throw out needles there,\u201d Michael Scott said. \u201cAll she asked them to do is make sure you clean up your mess.\u201d<\/p>\n
Michael said that after his mother confronted the dog owners, they accused her of squirting ammonia on the animals. His mother was dousing the lot in ammonia, Michael said, but only to keep wildlife away from the parcel.<\/p>\n
\u201cShe didn\u2019t throw it on them,\u201d the victim\u2019s son said. \u201cIt\u2019s for the rats and raccoons.\u201d<\/p>\n
After the argument, Michael, an MTA train conductor, went into the house. But his mother went alone to their front yard to try and resolve the dispute, he said. The attack that followed was worse than anything he\u2019s experienced in his 18 years in the transit system.<\/p>\n
