A good Samaritan was slashed in the face when he tried to break up a fight on board a train passing through a Manhattan hub last week, cops and sources said.<\/p>\n

The victim was riding a southbound 4 train through the 14th Street Union Square stop around 2:40 p.m. Friday when he spotted a bespectacled, backpack-carrying stranger involved in a heated feud with someone else, the sources said.<\/p>\n

When he stepped in, the maniac turned on him \u2014 slashing him in the face, authorities and sources said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The victim was taken to Bellevue Hospital, where he was listed in stable condition, police said.<\/p>\n

The attacker ran off on foot and had not been caught by Wednesday, cops said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Surveillance grabs show the suspect, described as a man with a dark complexion, wearing a gray Nike sweatsuit and clutching his cell phone as he appears to yell at someone on board the train.<\/p>\n
