After clearing numerous hurdles, a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2026\/03\/25\/us\/politics\/virginia-redistricting-referendum-house-seats.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">proposed amendment<\/a> to the state constitution, which attempts to eliminate all but one Republican district, will go to Virginia voters. Early voting has seen <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2026\/03\/27\/us\/elections\/virginia-redistricting-early-vote-tracker.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">high turnout<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p class=\"svelte-17kb3tr\">The current congressional map is nearly even, with six Democratic districts and five Republican districts. The proposed map, which is intended to result in 10 Democratic districts, would take effect this year.
