{"id":190971,"date":"2026-04-09T15:26:23","date_gmt":"2026-04-09T15:26:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/190971\/"},"modified":"2026-04-09T15:26:23","modified_gmt":"2026-04-09T15:26:23","slug":"brooklyn-woman-76-killed-when-suv-crashes-into-building-at-floyd-bennett-field","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/190971\/","title":{"rendered":"Brooklyn woman, 76, killed when SUV crashes into building at Floyd Bennett Field"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A 76-year-old woman was killed when the SUV she was riding in slammed into the side of a building at Brooklyn\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nps.gov\/gate\/learn\/historyculture\/floyd-bennett-field.htm\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Floyd Bennett Field<\/a>, police said Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>Pearle Davis was riding in the back of a 2022 Toyota RAV4 when the 33-year-old woman behind the wheel lost control about 6:10 p.m. Wednesday, cops said.<\/p>\n<p>The driver veered off the roadway inside Floyd Bennet Field and slammed into the side of a hangar now used as a warehouse off Flatbush Ave. in Marine Park.<\/p>\n<p>Floyd Bennett Field was the city\u2019s first municipal airport. It became part of the federal Gateway National Recreation Area after it was decommissioned and today boasts sports fields, park land and a recreation center.<\/p>\n<p>Davis, the driver, and a 45-year-old woman in the front passenger seat were all rushed to <a href=\"https:\/\/onebrooklynhealth.org\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Brookdale University Hospital<\/a>, where Davis died.<\/p>\n<p>Davis lived in Bushwick, according to cops. The other two women are expected to recover.<\/p>\n<p>The building they crashed was left with extensive structural damage, officials said.
