One firefighter was hospitalized for minor injuries following a residential fire in the early hours of Thursday morning, April 9, in the Kingsbridge Heights section of The Bronx, FDNY officials said.<\/p>\n
\u00a0<\/p>\n
A department spokesperson said the FDNY received a call at 4.28 a.m. on Thursday for a report of a fire on the top floor of 2791 Grand Concourse, a 5-story multiple dwelling (100 x 100), located between Miriam Street and East 197th Street.<\/p>\n
\u00a0<\/p>\n
He said a second alarm was raised at 4:47 a.m. and 46 emergency units, comprising 141 fire and EMS personnel responded to the scene.<\/p>\n
\u00a0<\/p>\n
He said EMS transported one firefighter with minor injuries to a local hospital, and their condition and description are unknown. He said the blaze was brought under control at 5.42 a.m. and the cause is under investigation. Norwood News reached out to the Red Cross of Greater New York to ask if there were residents displaced and Frederic Klein, regional communications manager, responded.<\/p>\n

\u201cAfter the fire on Grand Concourse in the Bronx, the American Red Cross has registered 11 households, including 25 adults and 12 children, for emergency assistance,\u201d he said. \u201cOur Disaster Action Team was able to provide recovery support, such as making sure residents have a safe place to stay and providing financial assistance, and our casework team will meet with these residents in coming days to help connect them with longer-term recovery resources from government and\/or non-profit partners.\u201d<\/p>\n

Klein added, \u201cAny residents impacted by this fire who need help with their recovery and have not already connected with the Red Cross should call 1-877-RED CROSS (877-733-2767) and select Option 1.\u201d<\/p>\n

Those wishing to donate can access the page\u00a0here<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n As\u00a0reported<\/a>, a car ignited in a Norwood parking lot on Saturday, March 28, but resulted in no injuries. It was not the first such\u00a0fire<\/a>\u00a0in a parking lot. Two days prior, 14 firefighters incurred minor injuries with Engine 79\u2019s firehouse caught\u00a0fire<\/a>\u00a0and causing it to be shuttered for now.<\/p>\n Meanwhile, one person\u00a0died<\/a>\u00a0and nine people were injured following a fire in the Belmont section of The Bronx on Thursday, March 26.<\/p>\n There were no\u00a0injuries reported<\/a>\u00a0following a separate residential fire in the Kingsbridge Heights section of The Bronx that also broke out in the early hours of Thursday, March 26, FDNY officials said.<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n Also, as\u00a0reported<\/a>, thirteen people were reported injured following an afternoon residential fire in the Kingsbridge section of The Bronx on Tuesday, March 17, [St. Patrick\u2019s Day] in a six-building complex which houses around seven daycare centers.<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n That incident followed another large fire, as\u00a0reported<\/a>, where several small businesses were damaged on East Gun Hill Road in the Laconia section of the East Bronx on March 6.
