One small business is relocating to Clinton Hill – just six months after a massive fire tore through a warehouse in Red Hook that impacted dozens of businesses. <\/p>\n
\u201cWe spent 10 years building up a business,\u201d said David Singh, co-owner of Lanoba Design. \u201cIt\u2019s a challenge every single day, and then you face the biggest challenge.\u201d <\/p>\n
The company lost more than 900 pieces of furniture worth about $1.2 Million. <\/p>\n
\u201cEverything we had [was gone],\u201d said Lars Noah Balderskilde, co-owner of Lanoba Design. \u201cWe couldn\u2019t save one little screw.\u201d <\/p>\n
But they were able to get more furniture – all imported from Denmark.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe had originally thought that we would stay in Red Hook and go back to our old space,\u201d said Balderskilde. <\/p>\n
The company is hosting its grand opening this weekend at its new home located at 6 Waverly Ave. in Clinton Hill. <\/p>\n
The expansion includes a brand-new 9,500-square-foot space. <\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s taken a resilience,\u201d said Singh. \u201cIt\u2019s taken a toll physically, mentally, emotionally.\u201d <\/p>\n
The relocation is thanks in part to an online campaign that raised more than $62,000. <\/p>\n
\u201cBecause of all the love and support we were shown, that gave us a kick, and that\u2019s why we\u2019re here today,\u201d said Balderskilde. <\/p>\n
