A man who shot his former boss multiple times on a busy Upper West Side street in November 2024 has been sentenced to prison.<\/p>\n

Eduardo Diaz, 44, was sentenced to 15 years in state prison after pleading guilty to Attempted Assault in the First Degree in New York State Supreme Court last October, Manhattan D.A. Bragg announced today. <\/p>\n

As we previously reported<\/a>, Diaz had been fired from his job at Lincoln Business Machines near West 68th Street and Columbus Avenue and had sent his former boss threatening texts months before the attack.<\/p>\n

On the morning of November 7, 2024, Diaz went to the store and confronted his former boss<\/a>. He pulled out a firearm and tried to shoot the victim, but the gun jammed. The confrontation continued outside onto the street near West 69th Street and Columbus Avenue, where Diaz fired multiple shots, striking the victim in the ankle, hip and shoulder. Diaz continued shooting at him after he fell to the ground.<\/p>\n

The victim was transported to Mount Sinai St. Luke\u2019s Hospital and held for several days. According to the DA\u2019s office, he is still recovering to this day.<\/p>\n

Diaz fled into the 72nd Street subway station near Central Park West and escaped through the tunnels. He was arrested the following day at a home in Queens, where officers executing a search warrant recovered a firearm, ammunition and clothing Diaz had been wearing during the shooting.<\/p>\n

\u201cEduardo Diaz has been held accountable for committing a vicious shooting against his former boss which recklessly spilled onto a public city street,\u201d D.A. Bragg said. \u201cCombatting gun violence is our top priority, and we will not tolerate the use of firearms to harm fellow New Yorkers.\u201d<\/p>\n
