One Manhattan parking attendant is now a hero, after dropping a gate onto a Range Rover mid-heist to stop luxury car<\/a> thieves getting away with some priceless possessions.<\/p>\n This incident happened on April 5th, after four or five suspects slipped into a parking garage located on West 43rd Street near 11th Avenue.<\/p>\n The thieves could have gotten away with several expensive cars, including a McLaren Artura supercar, but this parking attendant had other ideas.<\/p>\n His incredible actions kept the cars at the garage until the NYPD arrived, and prevented owners from losing some very valuable possessions.<\/p>\n This is how the Manhattan parking attendant stopped the luxury car thieves<\/p>\n Freedom News TV first reported on the heist<\/a>, with the NYPD also releasing a statement later on.<\/p>\n NBC New York also covered the incident<\/a>.<\/p>\n The attempted theft took place in the early morning of Sunday, April 5th, 2026, at a Hell\u2019s Kitchen parking garage.<\/p>\n After slipping into the lot, the thieves targeted several cars.<\/p>\n These included a McLaren Artura, Mercedes-AMG G63<\/a>, a white Land Rover Range Rover Sport, and, oddly, a Volvo XC60.<\/p>\n NYPD officers responded to a reported grand larceny auto incident at roughly 5:48 am.<\/p>\n But as they attempted to drive the cars out, parking attendant George Frimpong Jr stepped in.<\/p>\n \u201cI just had to think fast and do whatever I could to stop them,\u201d he told Fox News<\/a>.<\/p>\n He slammed the front security gate to the garage down.<\/p>\n It landed straight on top of the roof of the Range Rover.<\/p>\n All the drivers behind it were stuck, with the exception of the McLaren Artura<\/a> driver, who initially got away.<\/p>\n However, that didn\u2019t last long.<\/p>\n This is how badly it ended for the McLaren.<\/p>\n \u201cThe parking attendant was able to close the garage door.<\/p>\n \u201cIndividuals then used one of the stolen vehicles to ram through the door and exit the garage,\u201d said the NYPD statement.<\/p>\n After smashing the McLaren through the door, the driver lost control of the car.<\/p>\n The Artura then ran into a pole at West 42nd Street and 11th Avenue.<\/p>\n Clearly, whoever was behind the wheel couldn\u2019t handle the 671hp from the hybrid engine.<\/p>\n \u201cThe stolen vehicle later crashed a block away, and all three males fled in a gray BMW in an unknown direction,\u201d said the NYPD.<\/p>\n Supercar Blondie has contacted the NYPD for further comment.<\/p>\n None of the targeted cars made it away from the garage.<\/p>\n One owner, Hassam, spoke to the New York Post about his Volvo, which they had tried to steal.<\/p>\n \u201cMy car was severely damaged. My car key was inside.
