A new book has revealed that the late Queen Elizabeth<\/a> met Prince Harry<\/a> and Meghan Markle\u2019s<\/a> daughter just once before her passing. The late monarch sadly passed away in September 2022, but a biography has now confirmed she thankfully met her namesake, Princess Lilibet<\/a>, in the months leading up to that.<\/p>\n

The late monarch was \u201cthrilled\u201d to meet her great-granddaughter<\/p>\n

To recap, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex stepped back from life as senior working royals in 2020. Following that, they moved to California<\/a> to start a new life. This is rumored to have fractured their relationships<\/a> with other royals, particularly with Prince William and the now-King Charles.<\/p>\n

Nonetheless, Harry and Meghan were keen to make the effort<\/a> to celebrate the Queen\u2019s Platinum Jubilee in 2022. As such, in June, they travelled to the UK \u2013 with Prince Archie and Lilibet \u2013 to attend some celebratory events. And, it was during this visit that the Queen finally met her great-granddaughter<\/a>, Lilibet.<\/p>\n

The special moment is detailed in a new biography, written by Robert Hardman. In Elizabeth II: In Private. In Public. Her Story, the author said that the monarch was \u201cthrilled\u201d over the meeting. \u201cThe one-year-old crawled around her feet,\u201d he wrote in the book, which backs up a similar version of events shared in Harry\u2019s own memoir.<\/p>\n

Writing about \u201cthe final visit\u201d in his book, Spare, the Duke said Lilibet had \u201ccuddled\u201d the monarch\u2019s shins. \u201cSweetest children, Granny said, sounding bemused,\u201d he wrote. \u201cShe\u2019d expected them to be a bit more \u2026 American, I think? Meaning, in her mind, more rambunctious.\u201d<\/p>\n

Speaking about the Queen\u2019s own wishes for a final visit, elsewhere in his biography, Robert said that she planned for the family to visit her in Balmoral before her passing. \u201cShe wanted to make sure that they all had a really happy memory of her,\u201d he wrote.<\/p>\n
