Former VP\u00a0Kamala Harris<\/a>\u00a0on Friday teased her plans for the 2028\u00a0presidential election<\/a>\u00a0in an on-stage interview with the Rev. Al Sharpton in New York City, where she blasted President Trump as a \u201cliar.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI might. I\u2019m thinking about it,\u201d the Democrat replied when Sharpton asked her if she was going to run for president again.<\/p>\n

The room burst into applause at her response.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ll keep you posted,\u201d Harris added.<\/p>\n

Harris was speaking at Sharpton\u2019s National Action Network, a conference of black voters considered a must-stop for any potential Democratic presidential contender.<\/p>\n

Several other prominent Democrats mulling White House bids also spoke at the conference, including Govs. JB Pritzker of Illinois and Wes Moore of Maryland.<\/p>\n

The crowd favored Harris, the nation\u2019s first black vice president. At one point, a person yelled, \u201crun again.\u201d<\/p>\n

The audience burst into applause, and those in the room shouted repeatedly, \u201cRun again.\u201d<\/p>\n

Harris just smiled in response but played coy on her future plans.<\/p>\n

She was badly beaten by Trump in the 2024 presidential election, not winning a single battleground state. Trump is not expected to be on the ballot in 2028, but is expected to name his successor to the powerful MAGA movement.<\/p>\n

Harris was fired up in her appearance, kicking things off\u00a0by attacking Trump for both his domestic and foreign policy.<\/p>\n

She called him a \u201cliar\u201d who misled the American people in the 2024 election about affordability.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cHe lied,\u201d she said. \u201cHe lied. He told the American people on day one he was going to bring down prices and costs, and he lied.\u201d<\/p>\n

The cost of living was a top issue in the last election and remains one going into November\u2019s midterm election.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The Trump administration points out it has brought down the cost of living by making housing more affordable and cutting prescription drug prices. Trump also argues the uptick in gas prices is a temporary side effect of the war in Iran and will soon reverse itself.<\/p>\n

But Harris claimed Trump spent his first year in office helping his friends.<\/p>\n

\u201cInstead of taking care of the average, everyday folk in America around their need for affordability, he had been taking care of his rich friends and his own family.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cHe is telling the American people he doesn\u2019t care about you,\u201d she charged and then pivoted to attack Republicans in Congress, calling them Trump\u2019s \u201ccronies\u201d and describing them as \u201cfeckless.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThey\u2019re in it for what they can get out of it, and whoever is harmed in the process, so be it,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

She then encouraged people to vote in the midterm election, where Democrats are trying to win control of the House and Senate.<\/p>\n

Harris was also critical of Trump\u2019s actions on the world stage, accusing him of lying about Iran and putting the lives of US soldiers at risk.<\/p>\n

The former vice president blasted Trump for destroying relationships with America\u2019s NATO allies and pointed to his claim that the US destroyed Iran\u2019s nuclear arsenal \u2014 saying it wasn\u2019t true.<\/p>\n

\u201cObliterated it. He said, \u201d You know how he likes to use those kinds of words, obliterated it, which is not an ambiguous term, that means you took it out,\u201d she said. \u201cWell, evidently, he didn\u2019t do that.\u201d<\/p>\n

Harris also said Trump caused the deaths of 13 US service members and put more at risk. \u201cHundreds, it is estimated, of others will be injured \u2014 some very seriously \u2014 putting US service members at risk,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

Referring to the president as \u201cthat man,\u201d Harris added that Trump\u2019s destruction of the country\u2019s relationship with its allies and his making America an \u201cunreliable\u201d partner was keeping her up at night.<\/p>\n
