An elderly woman was found dead after a fire ripped through a Queens home<\/a> Monday morning and took more than an hour to extinguish, according to authorities.<\/p>\n

The senior citizen, 85, was found on the first floor unconscious and unresponsive<\/a> inside the home in the College Point neighborhood and was rushed to New York-Presbyterian Queens Hospital, where she was pronounced dead, <\/a>the NYPD said.<\/p>\n

The senior citizen, 85, was found on the first floor unconscious and unresponsive inside the home in the College Point neighborhood and was rushed to New York-Presbyterian Queens Hospital. Citizen App<\/p>\n

Firefighters initially reached the scene around 5:15 a.m. along 26th Avenue, and spent more than an hour putting out the first-floor blaze, <\/a>the FDNY said, according to reports.<\/a><\/p>\n

Two firefighters suffered<\/a> minor injuries, officials said.<\/p>\n

The elderly victim\u2019s name has not been released, pending family notification.<\/p>\n
