Members of UMass Dartmouth’s Charlton Women in Business (CWIB) student organization recently attended the\u00a0Winning Women Conference<\/a>\u00a0in New York City, gaining insights into leadership, career development, and the experiences of women across a range of industries.<\/p>\n

The conference brought together students and professionals for a full day of networking, panel discussions, and interactive workshops. Attendees heard from accomplished speakers,\u00a0participated\u00a0in group activities, and built connections with industry professionals.<\/p>\n

Melissa Rebello<\/a>, assistant dean of graduate programs and advisor for CWIB, highlighted both the planning efforts behind the trip and the students\u2019 engagement throughout the experience.<\/p>\n

“The CWIB executive board dedicated significant time to planning and fundraising to make this opportunity possible for students,” said Rebello. “Throughout the conference, our students demonstrated professionalism, confidence, and a strong commitment to learning\u2014actively engaging in discussions, presenting ideas, and building connections with professionals across industries. They represented Charlton College of Business exceptionally well.”<\/p>\n

Lexcey\u00a0Jordan ’26, a senior marketing major and co-president of CWIB,\u00a0found\u00a0the conference\u00a0to be\u00a0a valuable opportunity for growth.<\/p>\n

“One of the most impactful moments for me was participating in a workshop where I spoke in front of the entire conference.\u00a0It strengthened my confidence and reinforced the importance of building connections and believing in myself,” said Jordan. “As co-president, it was incredibly meaningful to help create this opportunity for our members. We wanted students to expand their perspectives, build connections, and engage with\u00a0professionals.”<\/p>\n

Erika Acevedo, a\u00a0senior\u00a0finance major and\u00a0CWIB member, also reflected on the experience.<\/p>\n

“The panel discussions were especially impactful for me,” said Acevedo. “They reinforced that my story is unique and something I should\u00a0always\u00a0feel confident sharing.”<\/p>\n

Through opportunities like the Winning Women Conference, CWIB continues to support students’ professional development by connecting them with industry leaders and real-world experiences.<\/p>\n
