WASHINGTON (TNND) \u2014 New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani<\/a>, who ran on a democratic socialism platform last year, has failed to deliver many of his promises in the first 100 days.<\/p>\n

Some of the campaign promises included city-owned grocery stores and free busses.<\/p>\n

During a recent exclusive interview with Politico, Mamdani admitted that his campaign promise of free bussing would not be happening in 2026.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m absolutely committed to making buses fast and free, and we\u2019re encouraged by the conversations we\u2019re having with the governor and legislative leaders to take action on that in 2026 as a first step,\u201d he told the news outlet.<\/a><\/p>\n

As for city-owned grocery stores, there haven\u2019t been any opened yet. However, Mamdani has proposed $70 million in funding for New York City\u2019s Economic Development Corporation .<\/p>\n

This corporation will look for locations to build the city-owned grocery stores, according to the New York Post.<\/a><\/p>\n

Regarding homeless encampments, Mamdani said he would stop clearing the encampments and would try to line up housing for the homeless.<\/p>\n

He ended up revamping his successor Eric Adams\u2019 policy of making city workers go to homeless encampments to try to get them off the streets.<\/p>\n

According to the New York Post, the city\u2019s libraries have suffered.<\/p>\n

When Mamdani was running for office, he said he would \u201cend the practice of using library funding as a bargaining chip in budget negotiations.\u201d<\/p>\n
