On Friday evening, the New York Mets<\/a> will open up a series with the Athletics at Citi Field.<\/p>\n

The Mets are coming off a 7-1 loss to the Arizona Diamondbacks<\/a> (on Thursday).<\/p>\n

They continue to play without Juan Soto<\/a> (who is on the IL).<\/p>\n

B\/R Walk-Off wrote (on April 6):<\/a> \u201cThe Mets are placing Juan Soto on the 10-Day IL with a right calf strain<\/p>\n

He\u2019s expected to miss 2-3 weeks\u201d<\/p>\n

Before Friday\u2019s game, David Stearns met with the media (via SNY Mets<\/a>).<\/p>\n

He was asked about Soto.<\/p>\n

Stearns: \u201cHe\u2019s progressing as we would expect. He\u2019s moving around indoors\u2026 We\u2019re optimistic this is not gonna be a particularly long-term absence right now.\u201d<\/p>\n

Soto had been batting .355 with one home run, five RBI\u2019s and three runs in eight games.<\/p>\n

He is in his second year playing for New York after signing a massive contract in 2024.<\/p>\n

Soto is in the middle of his ninth MLB season that also included stints with the Washington Nationals<\/a>, San Diego Padres<\/a> and New York Yankees.<\/p>\n

The four-time All-Star helped lead the Nationals to the 2019 World Series Championship.<\/p>\n

He also made another World Series appearance (in 2024) with the Yankees.<\/p>\n
