GREAT NECK, NY \u2014 A 25-year friendship has turned into a business venture, as two Long Islanders take over a Ralph\u2019s Famous Italian Ices and Ice Cream shop in Great Neck.<\/p>\n
Corey Rosen and Dan Schwartz, both Massapequa residents, have known each other for more than two decades and purchased the business just a few weeks ago.<\/p>\n
As a way to celebrate their arrival in the community, the owners are offering a buy-one-get-one-50-percent-off promotion from April 10 through April 12. The shop will be open daily from 12 to 10 p.m.<\/p>\n
Rosen said their friendship dates back to high school, and for more than 10 years, they have shared a goal of owning an Italian ice shop together.<\/p>\n
“We chose Ralph’s because we have always loved the product and always admired the company and everything they stand for,” Rosen said. <\/p>\n
The longtime friends hope to own additional shops on Long Island in the future. For now, they are navigating working alongside each other in this new endeavor.<\/p>\n
“The most exciting thing has been maintaining our incredible friendship while still learning a lot about each other,” Rosen said, adding that Dan has worn multiple hats in getting the shop ready for opening. <\/p>\n
“For instance, I have known Dan forever, but have seen him in the last couple of weeks be a plumber, an IT specialist, and a handyman.”<\/p>\n
Rosen said they are most excited to be part of the Great Neck community.<\/p>\n
