On Saturday afternoon, Mayor Zohran Mamdani said the person with the knife had since died.<\/p>\n
“I’m grateful to the NYPD for their quick response and for preventing additional violence,” he wrote on social media. “The three victims were taken to the hospital and are thankfully in stable condition.”<\/p>\n
“The NYPD is conducting an internal investigation and will release body-worn camera footage, as it does in all incidents involving the discharge of an officer’s firearm,” he added.<\/p>\n
Police said a knife was recovered at the scene and an investigation is ongoing.<\/p>\n
