NEW YORK CITY, N.Y. \u2014 Police in New York City shot a man who was reportedly armed with a large knife after they received calls that several people were stabbed Saturday at a subway station.\u00a0<\/p>\n
New York police officers responded shortly before 10 a.m. Eastern to the scene at Grand Central Station, where they encountered the man on a station platform.<\/p>\n
A law enforcement official not authorized to discuss the investigation publicly told the Associated Press the large knife was described as a machete.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Police then shot the man, who survived. He was brought to the hospital, where he was listed in critical condition, according to the agency.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Three people were stabbed during the incident, according to police, and all were expected to survive. They were identified only as an 84-year-old man, a 65-year-old man, and a 70-year-old woman.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Two police officers were also evaluated at a hospital, according to the Associated Press.\u00a0<\/p>\n
