The Manhattan District Attorney\u2019s Office has launched an investigation into democratic congressman Eric Swalwell after he was accused of sexual misconduct by multiple women.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe urge survivors and anyone with knowledge of these allegations to contact our Special Victims Division at 212-335-9373,\u201d the DA\u2019s office told CNN<\/a> in a Saturday, April 11, statement. \u201cOur specially trained prosecutors, investigators and counselors are well-equipped to help you in a trauma-informed, survivor-centered manner.\u201d<\/p>\n

On Friday, April 10, Swalwell, 45, was accused of sexual misconduct and sexual harassment<\/a> by multiple women, including a former staffer who claims the congressman raped her twice. He has categorically denied the accusations.<\/p>\n

\u201cThese allegations of sexual assault are flat false. They are absolutely false,\u201d Swalwell said in a Friday social media video<\/a>. \u201cThey did not happen. They have never happened. And I will fight them with everything I have.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tCongressman Eric Swalwell, a Democrat representing California\u2019s 14th congressional district, is addressing claims he sexually assaulted and harassed numerous women, including former coworkers, while in office. \u201cA lot has been said about me today through anonymous allegations. I thought it was important that you see and hear from me directly,\u201d the congressman, 45, said in [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n

Swalwell has not publicly addressed the investigation. Us Weekly has reached out to Swalwell\u2019s communications director for comment. The California politician has vehemently denied the allegations and, while he has admitted to \u201cmistakes,\u201d he maintains his innocence.<\/p>\n

\u201c[The accusations] come on the eve of an election, where I have been the frontrunner candidate for governor of California,\u201d he said on Friday. \u201cI do not suggest to you in any way that I am perfect or that I\u2019m a saint.\u201d<\/p>\n

He continued, \u201cI have certainly made mistakes in judgment in my past, but those mistakes are between me and my wife. And to her, I apologize deeply for putting her in this potion.\u201d<\/p>\n

Swalwell has been married to Brittany Watts<\/a> since 2016, during which period they welcomed three children. While Watts has not publicly spoken out regarding the accusations or the DA investigation, her husband that said he plans to \u201cspend time\u201d with their family in the wake of the claims.<\/p>\n

Eric Swalwell of sexual assault and harassment has responded to the congressman\u2019s video denying the allegations. \u201cMy wife\u2019s name is Ally Sammarco. Obviously you know that, but she\u2019s not named anonymous,\u201d Adam Parkhomenko, a Democratic strategist and former DNC National Field Director, wrote via [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n

\u201cThis weekend, I\u2019m going to spend time with my family and friends,\u201d Swalwell said in this Friday video denial. \u201cI appreciate those who\u2019ve reached out to me to show support. I look forward to updating you very soon.\u201d<\/p>\n

Swalwell further issued an apology to any of his supporters who might have \u201cdoubted\u201d their support for the gubernatorial candidate as a result of the numerous allegations.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think you know who I am,\u201d he stressed. \u201cFor over 20 years, I have served the public as a city councilman, as a member of congress and as a prosecutor who went to court on behalf of victims \u2014 particularly on behalf of sexual assault victims. That\u2019s who I am and have always been.\u201d<\/p>\n
