On Friday evening, the New York Yankees<\/a> played the Tampa Bay Rays<\/a> in Florida.<\/p>\n

They lost by a score of 5-3.<\/p>\n

Despite the loss, the Yankees are still at the top of the American League East with an 8-5 record in 13 games.<\/p>\n

Former New York Yankees Player Still A Free Agent\"\"\"\"<\/p>\n

With the season well under way, it\u2019s worth noting that a former popular Yankees player is still a free agent.<\/p>\n

Gio Urshela<\/a> is available<\/a> to sign with any team in the league.<\/p>\n

He was released<\/a> by the Minnesota Twins<\/a> (on March 20).<\/p>\n

Urshela\u2019s MLB Career\"\"\"\"<\/p>\n

Urshela spent the first three seasons of his MLB career playing for the Cleveland Guardians<\/a> and Toronto Blue Jays<\/a>.<\/p>\n

He then joined the Yankees (in 2019).<\/p>\n

That season, the 34-year-old batted .314 with 21 home runs, 74 RBI\u2019s and 73 runs in 132 games.<\/p>\n

The Yankees wrote (via X) on August 9, 2019:<\/a> \u201cGio is 6-for-10 with 4 homers, a double, and 8 RBIs in his last two games. He\u2019s also currently on a three-game home run streak \ud83d\udd25\u201d<\/p>\n

After his standout season, Urshela played two more seasons for the Yankees before getting traded to the Twins.<\/p>\n

Looking Ahead For The Yankees<\/p>\n

The Yankees have two more games in Tampa Bay.<\/p>\n

They will then head back to the Bronx to host Mike Trout<\/a> and the Angels on April 13.<\/p>\n
