They really had a ball on their wedding day.<\/p>\n
A pair of diehard Yankees fans were not going to let their nuptials stand in the way of attending the Bronx Bombers\u2019 Opening Day.<\/p>\n
After Sean Doddy and Monique\u00a0Zabihzadeh of Williamsburg said their \u2018I do\u2019s\u201d on April 3, they hopped on the 4 train to Yankee Stadium in time to watch the team sink the Miami Marlins.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have our big wedding in June and we wanted to do a little elopement ourselves before then. And we chose April 3rd because that was a year to the day of when Sean proposed,\u201d Zabihzadeh, 31, told The Post.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe really hadn\u2019t figured out what we were going to do after the ceremony, so we were like, \u2018Why don\u2019t we just go and spend the day there?’\u201d<\/p>\n
Their City Hall appointment was at 10:30 am, so they just got on the train afterwards \u2014 still in their wedding attire \u2014 with their photographer to make the game\u2019s 1:30 pm start time.<\/p>\n
Some riders congratulated them and snapped their photo.<\/p>\n
But \u201cprobably half the car, if not more, just looked at us and then looked the other way,\u201d Zabihzadeh said.<\/p>\n
\u201cEven though they saw our photographer and we were trying to find a place to sit down, it was kind of funny how little some of the people cared \u2026 because everyone was just trying to get to the game.\u201d<\/p>\n
The newlyweds were not prepared for the fanfare they received once they arrived at the House That Ruth Built.<\/p>\n
The couple took the 4 train to the stadium with their photographer. Anna Duncan<\/p>\n
\u201cOne woman started screaming when she saw us and was like, \u2018Oh my God, did you just get married?\u2019 Then, in three seconds, there was a huge crowd of people around us cheering us on,\u201d Zabihzadeh recalled.<\/p>\n
Once they got into the stadium, they were inundated with even more well wishes.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt was very flattering and appreciated, the number of people that said \u2018Congratulations,’\u201d Doddy, 34, a Bronx native, said.<\/p>\n
Since the bride was still in her heels, she found their seats, while her doting groom offered to get them food.<\/p>\n
\u201cI literally ate a hotdog in my wedding dress. At that point, I was like, \u2018I\u2019m already married, if I get ketchup on my dress it\u2019s fine,’\u201d said Zabihzadeh, who hails from Ellicott City, MD.<\/p>\n
The lovebirds, both private practice attorneys who attended New York Law School, first met when they worked together as prosecutors in the Bronx.<\/p>\n
\u201cAs soon as I met her, I was struck. That was it for me. It was head over heels, and everyone at the office knew that. It was a running joke about how crazy I was about her. But she seemed to be totally oblivious to it,\u201d Doddy said.<\/p>\n
The lovebirds met when they worked together as prosecutors in the Bronx. Anna Duncan<\/p>\n
In March 2020, when the courts shut down due to COVID, he finally confessed his feelings while they were at a friend\u2019s apartment, \u201cand we\u2019ve been together ever since,\u201d Zabihzadeh said.<\/p>\n
\u201cLiterally, it took the end of the world to get the courage to finally profess my love,\u201d Doddy joked.<\/p>\n
Doddy comes from a long line of Yankees fans, including his 89-year-old grandmother, who was elated when she heard her grandson and his new bride spent their wedding day at the stadium.<\/p>\n
\u201cShe thought it was the greatest thing ever,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
She\u2019s such a Yankee fan, he said, that \u201cif it came down to adopting as a grandchild, Aaron Judge, and getting rid of her other 22 grandchildren, she really would think about it.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"They really had a ball on their wedding day.
