Queen Mary of Denmark has paid tribute to her “beloved father” after he died in Hobart aged 84.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Professor John Dalgleish Donaldson was a professor of applied mathematics and was born in Scotland on September 5, 1941, according to a statement from the Royal House of Denmark.\u00a0<\/p>\n

His health had been declining in recent years, with the Australian-born Queen Mary last visiting him in March during a royal tour of the country with her husband King Frederik<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“My heart is heavy, and my thoughts are grey. My beloved father has passed away,” the queen said in a statement.\u00a0<\/p>\n

“But I know that when the grief settles, the memories will brighten my day, and what will remain strongest is love and gratitude for everything he gave me and taught me.”<\/p>\n
