{"id":194227,"date":"2026-04-12T10:15:16","date_gmt":"2026-04-12T10:15:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/194227\/"},"modified":"2026-04-12T10:15:16","modified_gmt":"2026-04-12T10:15:16","slug":"st-johns-lefteris-liotopoulos-imran-suljanovic-heading-to-transfer-portal","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/194227\/","title":{"rendered":"St. John&#8217;s Lefteris Liotopoulos, Imran Suljanovic heading to transfer portal"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Sadiku Ibine Ayo <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/03\/31\/sports\/st-johns-loses-sadiku-ibine-ayo-to-transfer-portal-after-sweet-16-exit\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">will have company in the transfer portal<\/a> from two teammates.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Lefteris Liotopoulos and Imran Suljanovic also are planning to enter the portal, as first reported by The Post.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>A sophomore 6-foot-4 sharpshooter from Greece, Liotopoulos averaged 2.9 points per game. <\/p>\n<p>He had some bright moments this season, highlighted by a 17-point outburst in a win at Creighton. <\/p>\n<p>Suljanovic, a 6-foot-8 forward from Austria, suffered a dislocated patella tendon in October and didn\u2019t appear in a game as a Johnnie.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Neither player was projected to be a major contributor next season. St. John\u2019s is expected to add at least five players in the transfer portal. <\/p>\n<p>They have been linked to, among others, Kentucky forward Mo Dioubate, Arizona State center Massamba Diop, Kansas center Flory Bidunga, Georgetown guard KJ Lewis, Santa Clara forward Allen Graves, Kansas State wing Abdi Bashir Jr., Virginia Tech guard Neoklis Avdalas and Robert Morris guard DeSean Goode.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img style=\"aspect-ratio:1.21470937;display:block\" fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" data-modal-image=\"39059172\" width=\"717\" height=\"590\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/20260228STJVNOV4395RS.jpg\" alt=\"St. John's Lefteris Liotopoulos slams the ball.\" class=\"wp-image-39059172\"  \/>St. John\u2019s Lefteris Liotopoulos slams the ball. Corey Sipkin for the NY POST<\/p>\n<p>On Tuesday, The Post spoke with coach Rick Pitino, who was confident the Johnnies would be able to reload this spring.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have a great brand, we have a brand that everybody\u2019s interested in talking with us,\u201d Pitino said. \u201cAnybody that we\u2019ve wanted to talk to, they\u2019ve opened up right away. The feedback has been incredible. We have back-to-back [Big East] Players of the Year. We\u2019re coming off selling out the Garden [several times], back-to-back championships.
