MANHATTAN, N.Y. (PIX11) \u2014 Two firefighters are hurt after battling a massive 3\u2011alarm fire that tore through a building on Seventh Avenue on Sunday morning, officials said.<\/p>\n
More Local News <\/a><\/p>\n The fire broke out around 6 a.m. in the upper floors of a mixed\u2011use building that residents say has been abandoned.<\/p>\n Thick smoke poured from the top levels as firefighters worked from several ladder trucks to contain the flames.<\/p>\n Two firefighters sustained minor injuries and were being evaluated by EMS crews.<\/p>\n Crews remained on site for more than two hours as they worked to bring the fire under control.<\/p>\n It was not yet clear whether anyone was inside the building when the fire started, according to the fire chief.<\/p>\n A neighbor who lives next door from the building told PIX11 News she woke up to the sound of firetrucks and immediately sensed something was wrong.<\/p>\n Nicole Alarcon is an award-winning digital content producer.
