MANHATTAN, Kan. (WIBW) – Kansas State University is launching a new initiative to bring more students to campus.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe want to make sure that we\u2019re recruiting graduates to the university, and this is one way to ensure that students have that opportunity,\u201d said K-State Vice Provost for Enrollment Management Karen Goos.<\/p>\n
K-State\u2019s MHK <\/a>and SLN<\/a> Pathways are two-semester programs to bring Manhattan Area Technical College and Salina Area Technical College students to the university.<\/p>\n \u201cThe best way to do that is to create partnerships with our local communities for students who might not think that this is an option or to be able to gain a bachelor\u2019s degree that they\u2019re not quite ready [for],\u201d Goos said.<\/p>\n Students in the programs will have the opportunity to live on K-State\u2019s campus and participate in university life they wouldn\u2019t get at their tech schools.<\/p>\n \u201cI can go to football games, I can be a part of the health center,\u201d Goos said. \u201cI can, you know, engage in all the activities and groups to make it feel like I\u2019m a part of that college experience and I\u2019m not missing out on that.\u201d<\/p>\n Pathways students are eligible to transfer to Kansas State full-time after completing 24 credit hours and earning a 2.0 GPA.<\/p>\n \u201cI think it provides an opportunity for access,\u201d Goos said. \u201cIt also provides them with the supports they need to not get thrown in and say you\u2019ve been admitted and maybe you\u2019re not ready and it can be really overwhelming.\u201d<\/p>\n The programs are set to begin in the spring semester.<\/p>\n Copyright 2025 WIBW.
