Lopez said he still supports the Boss\u2019s freedom of speech, even if it includes polarizing rhetoric about \u201cour wannabe king\u201d and Trump\u2019s \u201crogue government.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cI am not against what Bruce is saying now,\u201d Lopez said. <\/p>\n
He said he just doesn\u2019t believe politics should tear Americans apart.<\/p>\n
\u201cMaybe when I was 20, I was a little more extreme, but I\u2019m 77 now, so the extremities are gone,\u201d Lopez said.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s so divided, the political part. It\u2019s a tough one on me.\u201d<\/p>\n
Lopez added that he\u2019s still hopeful of Trump\u2019s policies, saying, \u201cI would love to see something good come out.\u201d<\/p>\n
Springsteen has blasted the Trump administration as \u201cracist\u201d and \u201ctreasonous.\u201d Chris Pizzello\/Invision\/AP<\/p>\n
The drummer said he and Springsteen are meanwhile on \u201cperfect\u201d terms and that the two occasionally still connect. <\/p>\n
\u201cIf he wants me to do something, he\u2019ll call me\u201d Lopez said.<\/p>\n
\u201cSometimes it\u2019s just because he hasn\u2019t seen me for a while. And he\u2019ll call me and say. \u2018Hey, come around here,\u2019 \u201d recalled the Jerseyite. \u201cAnd most of the time it\u2019s terrible when I call him because it\u2019s when one of our crew died and he doesn\u2019t know that. That\u2019s happening more and more.\u201d<\/p>\n
Lopez doesn\u2019t plan on seeing Springsteen\u2019s current tour but caught his former band in Philly a few years ago. <\/p>\n
