The six-week program, hosted by the\u00a0<a data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/tracking.us.nylas.com\/l\/5c346010e0fa4e1ca8eee594252999ce\/7\/be2d52dbb17fecfea747d7a8170dc3b82d24684ae2275ac82d7df253223cf70c?cache_buster%3D1775583539&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1775830046711000&amp;usg=AOvVaw3UznhUMzHnb-jf2opgjicF\" href=\"https:\/\/tracking.us.nylas.com\/l\/5c346010e0fa4e1ca8eee594252999ce\/7\/be2d52dbb17fecfea747d7a8170dc3b82d24684ae2275ac82d7df253223cf70c?cache_buster=1775583539\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Asase Yaa School of the Arts<\/a>\u00a0will run from July 6 through Aug. 14, 2026, at its Bed-Stuy location on MacDonough Street.<\/p>\n<p data-end=\"684\" data-start=\"335\">The camp has built a reputation as one of the borough\u2019s few programs offering a fully immersive introduction to live performance production for children ages 4 to 13. Participants get to engage in hands-on training across disciplines, learn\u00a0how to bring a production from concept to stage while exploring cultural history rooted in the African diaspora.<\/p>\n<p data-end=\"1127\" data-start=\"686\">This year\u2019s theme, \u201cTitans of African Empires,\u201d centers on three influential historical figures: Mansa Musa, the powerful ruler of the Mali Empire known for his immense wealth; Shaka Zulu, founder of the Zulu Kingdom in Southern Africa; and Yaa Asantewaa, who led resistance against British colonial forces during the War of the Golden Stool in present-day Ghana.<\/p>\n<p data-end=\"1127\" data-start=\"686\">\u201cFor 20 years, our summer camp has served as a creative and cultural cornerstone for young people in our community,\u201d said Rubie Inez Williams, program director\u00a0and co-founder of the Children\u2019s Summer Arts Camp, \u201cAs we celebrate 25 years as an organization, we remain committed to nurturing the next generation through programs that inspire confidence, creativity\u00a0and a deep connection to cultural heritage.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"unnamed-37asase-yaa-cultural-arts-foundation\" id=\"file-4353835\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/unnamed-37asase-yaa-cultural-arts-foundation.jpg;w=960.jpeg\"\/>&#13;<br \/>\nPhoto:Supplied\/ Asase Yaa Cultural Arts Foundation&#13;<\/p>\n<p data-end=\"1472\" data-start=\"1129\">Campers will study these figures and translate their legacies into an original stage production composed of three one-act plays. Through dance, music and storytelling, students will interpret themes of leadership, resilience and cultural identity. The program culminates in a final performance for family and friends at the end of the session.<\/p>\n<p data-end=\"1702\" data-start=\"1474\">Beyond the stage, the camp schedule includes arts and crafts, group activities and local excursions, including visits to nearby parks such as Gurney Recreation Park. The program runs weekdays from 8:00am\u00a0to 5:00pm.<\/p>\n<p data-end=\"1959\" data-start=\"1704\">Founded in Brooklyn, Asase Yaa has positioned the camp as both a creative outlet and a cultural education space for neighborhood youth.
