Alloy Development<\/a> shared renderings of Temple Square Plaza, a forthcoming public space in Downtown Brooklyn<\/a> designed by Future Green Studio<\/a>, and to be maintained by the Downtown Brooklyn Partnership<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Temple Square Plaza will be built at Alloy Block<\/a>, a mixed-use development of market-rate and affordable housing, retail, and commercial office space that\u2019s home to New York\u2019s first passive public school<\/a>, designed by ARO.<\/p>\n

Alloy CEO Jared Della Valle said Temple Square Plaza \u201crepresents an exciting next step in the Alloy Block, helping shape a more vibrant, people-first, and sustainable Downtown Brooklyn.\u201d<\/p>\n

The plaza will be built on the corner of Third Street and Flatbush Avenue below a forthcoming tower under construction as part of phase two of the Alloy Block megadevelopment, called One Third Avenue<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Part of the Schermerhorn Street bed will be reclaimed, and made for pedestrians. Street lights and pedestrian signals will be either relocated or replaced. New drainage will be deployed, and old hydrants removed.<\/p>\n

Renderings show the plaza defined by circular patterns and benches in the ground plane that branch out from existing trees.<\/p>\n

Future Green Studio envisions new greenery, including tree pits and planters, both within the plaza and lining the curb, to provide a buffer between the plaza and Flatbush Avenue.<\/p>\n

Moving chairs, timber-slated benches, platform seating, and standing bars will delineate circulation through the green space, while offering a range of spots for lounging.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cBy transforming the corner into an elevated, green public space, we\u2019ll deliver a destination that invites residents and visitors to gather, relax, and connect,\u201d Della Valle added. \u201cThe plaza\u2019s design is community-driven, planned in response to the desire for a more welcoming, park-like environment, while honoring the area\u2019s rich history.\u201d<\/p>\n

Della Valle added that Alloy\u2019s goal is to set \u201ca new standard for the future of sustainable urban development.\u201d<\/p>\n
