Seven high school projects<br \/>\nand 24 students will advance to the state-level competition this April.<\/p>\n<p>Following a display of rigorous scholarship and creative storytelling, Herricks students emerged as top performers in both the Middle and High School divisions at this year\u2019s Long Island Regional National History Day Contest.<\/p>\n<p>Held on March 22 at Hofstra University, the event featured over 600 student entries from across the region.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The district extends its pride and congratulations to these talented students and their dedicated advisers on these remarkable achievements.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The success of the Herricks contingent is a testament to the hard work, critical thinking and historical scholarship fostered throughout our school community.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In the Senior Division, the high school students won nine awards, with seven projects and 24 students advancing to the National History Day State Competition.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The results are as follows:\u00a0 Senior Group Exhibit (1st Place): Nikhil Aggarwal, Callista Domingo, Rhea Mandal, Rehan Malhi and Soor Patel \u2013 Looms to Legislatures: The Lowell Mill Girls and the Fight for Dignity in Industrial America\u00a0 Senior Individual Exhibit (1st Place): Prapti Patel \u2013 Unmasking Power: Watergate\u2019s Revolution, Reaction and Reform\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Senior Group Performance (1st Place): Aanika St. Jean, Zarah Zohir, Neha Paul and Maya Purohit \u2013 Virginia Is for Lovers: How Loving v. Virginia Revolutionized Marriage Equality in the United States\u00a0 Senior Group Documentary (2nd Place): Karan Singh, Ryan Khokon, Kunal Bhardwaj, Krish Shashidharan and Harvir Singh \u2013 Below the City: The Subway That Revolutionized New York\u00a0 Senior Group Website (2nd Place): Sabriyah Islam, Chloe Fan, Penelope Fung, Janice Loong and Ayana Patel \u2013 From Passive Pleas to Passionate Protest: How Stonewall Ignited Revolutionary Reform\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Senior Group Exhibit (3rd Place): Nuha Maruf, Rania Gupta and Xennie Liu \u2013 The Innocence Project\u00a0 Senior Historical Paper (3rd Place): Wenshu Wang \u2013 \u201cEngineering Consent\u201d: Edward Bernays and the Institutionalization of Modern Persuasion and Public Relations Senior Group Website (3rd Place); American History Award sponsored by the Huntington Historical Society: Hammad Waseem and Jun Guan \u2013 Engel v.
