Former Denver Nuggets forward Michael Porter Jr. just wrapped up his first full season with the Brooklyn Nets<\/a>.<\/p>\n

After making $38.3 million in 2025-2026, Porter is heading into the final season of his current contract. He\u2019s slated to make $40.8 million in 2026-2027.<\/p>\n

Will Porter continue to make that money with the Nets, while securing a long-term future with the franchise? The ex-Nuggets sharpshooter addressed his future during his final media availability of the season.<\/p>\n

How do the Nets feel? That much will be revealed over time. Slater reports that Porter Jr. revealed that he had a discussion with the front office brass, and there weren\u2019t \u201csubstantive talks\u201d about an extension<\/a>. It\u2019s too early to tell what the future holds for Porter.<\/p>\n

Last summer, the Nuggets targeted Brooklyn forward Cam Johnson. They shipped Porter to Brooklyn in order to acquire the veteran sharpshooter.<\/p>\n

During his first season with the Nets, Porter appeared in 52 games. He shot 46.3% from the field and hit on 36.3% of his threes to average 24.2 points per game.<\/p>\n

Along with his scoring, Porter averaged 7.1 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 1.1 steals per game.<\/p>\n

For the first time in years, Porter won\u2019t be a part of playoff action. He won an NBA<\/a> Championship with the Nuggets back in 2023.<\/p>\n

Being on a rebuilding team, Porter has been viewed as a trade target for contending teams throughout the 2025-2026 NBA season. The veteran forward made it clear he preferred to stick with the Nets. Inquiring teams didn\u2019t get talks to go very far.<\/p>\n

As the Nets try to figure out what the future holds for Porter with their franchise, he remains a name to keep an eye on in the trade market. That will change only when an extension takes place.<\/p>\n
