The community-based organization Woodside on the Move<\/a> hosted its annual spring carnival on Saturday, April 11, on the schoolyard of P.S. 11Q The Kathryn M. Phelan School<\/a>, located at 54-25 Skillman Ave. in Woodside<\/a>.<\/p>\n

This family-friendly event featured a petting zoo, face painting, balloon twists, tournament games, free books being given away, prizes and more.<\/p>\n

Among those who helped Woodside on the Move put this spring carnival together were Soccer Shots<\/a>, Assemblymember Steven Raga, P.S. 11Q, Council Member Julie Won and State Senator Michael Gianaris.<\/p>\n

In addition to holding the spring carnival, Woodside on the Move is planning<\/p>\n

its annual street festival for the fall and a celebration for its 50th anniversary this October.<\/p>\n

\u201cEverything that we do has a strong emphasis on community, a strong emphasis on family, and we understand that everything starts with
our young scholars,\u201d Woodside on the Move Executive Director William Jourdain said. \u201cAnd so the idea of these types of events, such as the spring carnival, is to not just be impactful, but to provide a space where community, family and neighbors can come together.\u201d<\/p>\n
