{"id":195916,"date":"2026-04-13T20:37:42","date_gmt":"2026-04-13T20:37:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/195916\/"},"modified":"2026-04-13T20:37:42","modified_gmt":"2026-04-13T20:37:42","slug":"mamdani-proposes-eliminating-car-traffic-in-part-of-brooklyns-grand-army-plaza","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/195916\/","title":{"rendered":"Mamdani proposes eliminating car traffic in part of Brooklyn\u2019s Grand Army Plaza"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\t&#13;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.amny.com\/?s=mamdani\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Mayor Zohran Mamdani<\/a> wants to transform Brooklyn\u2019s Grand Army Plaza by advancing a plan to eliminate car traffic between the entrance to Prospect Park and the Soldiers\u2019 and Sailors\u2019 Memorial Arch across from it, his office announced on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>Under the proposal, the road to the arch\u2019s south side, which currently connects Union Street to the west with Eastern Parkway and Flatbush Avenue to the east, would be turned into a pedestrian plaza.
