The King and Queen of the Netherlands are in the United States for a series of engagements that will take them to Washington, D.C., Florida, and Philadelphia. In fact, they\u2019ve already arrived in the Pennsylvania city and have begun their official program. We even caught a glimpse of them stepping off the plane that brought them here and got our first look at Queen M\u00e1xima\u2019s outfit for this working visit. Specifically, Queen M\u00e1xima chose to bring back a green, beaded ensemble by Jan Taminiau, which she originally acquired in 2017. The look consists of a top, wide-leg trousers, and a matching cape.<\/p>\n

\nVisit to Philadelphia\u2019s Independence Hall<\/p>\n

The Dutch royals\u2019 morning in Philadelphia began with a welcome from Governor Josh Shapiro and First Lady Lori Shapiro. That moment was followed by a guided tour of Independence Hall, where the 250th anniversary of U.S. independence and the role the Netherlands played in it will be commemorated. All of this kicks off a day that will culminate in a dinner at the White House, where Willem Alexander and M\u00e1xima will be staying at the invitation of President Donald Trump.<\/p>\n

\nA dress with a distinctive draped neckline<\/p>\n

For these first appearances in Philadelphia, M\u00e1xima opted to rewear a green midi-length dress featuring a distinctive draped neckline that forms a bow. The design is by Danish designer Claes Iversen, one of her go-to designers. And no, this isn\u2019t the first time she\u2019s worn it. In fact, she chose it for the accession of Luxembourg\u2019s Grand Duke Guillaume and Grand Duchess St\u00e9phanie on October 3, 2025. On that occasion, she paired the dress with a floral brooch at the waist and, at times, layered it under an elegant camel cape coat.<\/p>\n

Her gray pearl brooch once worn by Queen Wilhelmina<\/p>\n

Today, she\u2019s skipped both the coat and the waist brooch. Instead, she\u2019s accessorized the dress with another brooch, elegantly pinned at the neckline\u2019s draping. Specifically, she chose a piece centered around a large gray pearl, surrounded by six sizable diamonds and flanked by two smaller gray pearls. The exact origins of the piece remain unclear, but this isn\u2019t the first time she\u2019s worn it. In fact, she has also styled it with a detachable pendant featuring two additional gray pearls, one of them pear-shaped. In that more elaborate form, it appears in a portrait of Queen Wilhelmina from 1897.<\/p>\n

To complement this historic brooch, Queen M\u00e1xima wore long earrings featuring two gray pearls framing a large diamond, along with a bracelet and a statement ring. She completed the look with her gray Knot clutch by Italian house Bottega Veneta, covered in small pearl-like embellishments that echo her jewelry. She first debuted this accessory on October 3, 2025, in Luxembourg.
