NEW YORK (PIX11) \u2014 It is going to heat up in the tri-state region. Record highs could be threatened later in the week, but it may also come with shower chances.<\/p>\n
A warm front lifting through the region did bring a stray shower to New York City during the afternoon.<\/p>\n
NYC forecast and PIX11\u2019s Weather Center <\/a><\/p>\n The passage of the front signals the development of a strong southwesterly wind and will bring in the summer-like temperatures for the rest of the week. To the north, several weak disturbances will ride along a meandering frontal boundary and could bring a threat of a shower from time to time.<\/p>\n Skies will clear out with the passage of the cold front on Monday night.\u00a0 It will be mild as temperatures only dip into the mid 60s.<\/p>\n Temperatures are going to soar on Tuesday. Afternoon highs will likely be in the low to mid 80s. A stray afternoon shower may bring the threat of a pop-up shower, mainly for northern areas.<\/p>\n The peak of the summer-like warmth will be on Wednesday. Temperatures could be record-breaking as highs soar into the upper 80s, with some inland areas possibly hitting 90 degrees. A better chance of thunderstorms could develop with the very warm temperatures in place.<\/p>\n The heat will remain on Thursday as temperatures will top out in the upper 80s. Shower chances do not look as likely when compared to Wednesday.<\/p>\n By Friday, temperatures are expected to trail further down.
