1.\u00a0Gateway Tunnel getting ready to start boring in New Jersey<\/a><\/p>\n

Preparations are underway to excavate the Gateway Tunnel \u2014 the new rail tunnel under the Hudson River between New York and New Jersey.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat you\u2019re looking at behind us here is the future portal,\u201d said James Starace, the chief of program delivery for the Gateway Development Commission. \u201cThat will go back about another 75 feet to a vertical face, and that\u2019s where the boring operation will begin.\u201d<\/p>\n

2.\u00a0Congressional candidate Jack Schlossberg thinks Democrats need a makeover<\/a><\/p>\n

Making a bid to represent New York\u2019s 12th Congressional District, Jack Schlossberg thinks he can come out on top of a crowded Democratic primary field to represent parts of Manhattan, including the Upper West Side and Upper East Side.<\/p>\n

He told NY1 that he is keen on taking on President Donald Trump \u2014 revealing a new plan outside Trump Tower he calls his \u201cBoard of Piece Fund.\u201d If passed into law, the measure would require Trump to reimburse the city for security measures provided by the NYPD. After the 2016 election, reports showed that the NYPD spent over $300,000 a day.<\/p>\n

3.\u00a0Dozens arrested as protesters demand Schumer and Gillibrand block sale of bombs to Israel<\/a><\/p>\n

Nearly 100 protesters were arrested during a demonstration Monday calling on Senate Democratic leader Chuck Schumer and Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand to block the sale of thousands of U.S. bombs to Israel.<\/p>\n

Led by the antiwar group Jewish Voice for Peace, the crowd of hundreds initially attempted to stage a sit-in inside the Manhattan offices of the two Democratic lawmakers they accused of abetting\u00a0Israel\u2019s intensifying attacks in Lebanon<\/a>\u00a0and the\u00a0U.S.-Israeli war on Iran<\/a>.<\/p>\n
