ROCHESTER, N.Y. \u2014 Since Feb. 24, it has been illegal for cannabis companies to advertise on billboards in New York State, but some signs are still up across the Rochester area. So, when will those billboards come down?<\/p>\n
Viewers have reached out<\/a> with that question after seeing the billboards. The Office of Cannabis Management confirmed it has received at least nine complaints about billboards in the Rochester region. News10NBC followed up with the OCM on the issue to find out when the signs will come down.<\/p>\n After the OCM receives a complaint, the office will work to confirm that the billboard exists. Then, it issues a statement of findings to the cannabis company. The company then has to respond within 15 days with its corrective action plan \u2013 its plan to remove the billboard.<\/p>\n If the company doesn\u2019t respond or refuses to remove the signs, the OCM can take disciplinary action like fines or suspending or revoking the license. News10NBC has called and emailed local cannabis companies that the OCM has received complaints about. The managers who responded said they did not know when the billboards would be removed.<\/p>\n Neither the OCM nor the individual cannabis companies could give a specific date that the signs would come down.
