Organizers describe it as \u201ca day for the people who make up the world of the record store\u2014the staff, the customers, and the artists\u2014to come together and celebrate the unique culture of a record store and the special role they play in their communities.\u201d <\/p>\n<p> Each year, independently owned record shops around the world mark the day with exclusive vinyl and CD releases, performances, artist meet-and-greets, DJs, and other festivities that keep the spirit of local music alive. <\/p>\n<p> This year, three Queens record shops are among dozens across New York City set to celebrate the annual event. <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/recordstoreday.com\/Venues?state=NY\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">You can see the full list here.<\/a> <\/p>\n<p> In Queens the list of stores includes the following: <\/p>\n<p> In Astoria, Pancake Records will open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Record Store Day. Along with RSD exclusives, the shop will offer 10 percent off all used media, 20 percent off select vinyl, and a variety of bargain bins for crate-diggers. Music fans can also catch live performances by DJ Tenta from 1 to 3 p.m. and Blue Jay at 4 p.m. <\/p>\n<p> In Jamaica, VP Records will host a special appearance by reggae artist I Wayne, free and open to the public on Saturday, April 18. The session is scheduled for 2 to 4 p.m., giving fans a chance to connect with the artist in person. The store will also feature performances by King Addies, Massive B and DJ Proud. The full event runs from noon to 5 p.m., according to officials. <\/p>\n<p> In Ridgewood, Deep Cuts Record Store will offer rare vinyl finds available in-store only, sold on a first-come, first-served basis with no holds.
