The Village of Thomaston Board of Trustees met Monday night to review election results, budget changes, and several village projects during its regular meeting at Village Hall.<\/p>\n
One of the items discussed was the modification of the 2025-26 budget. Trustees approved several adjustments while keeping the overall budget unchanged. Medicare Part B reimbursement costs increased by $376, while the same amount reduced medical insurance costs to balance the change.<\/p>\n
The board also addressed higher winter costs. Spending for snow and salt increased from $20,000 to about $43,000 following winter storms this year. To offset the increase, trustees reduced funding in another street maintenance account by about $23,000. These adjustments balanced out and kept the total budget the same.<\/p>\n
Trustees also reviewed the 2026 village election results and held the annual organizational meeting. During the meeting, the board agreed to continue holding regular Board of Trustees meetings on the second Monday of each month.<\/p>\n
Other items discussed included replacing a commercial garage door opener at Village Hall and reviewing recommendations from the Design Review Board. The board also considered a new Design Review Board application. The Design Review Board helps review construction and renovation projects to ensure they match the character of the village.<\/p>\n
Trustees also discussed reviewing requirements for oil-to-gas conversions, but mentioned that the exercise needs to be held off until the next meeting. Many homeowners consider these conversions to improve heating efficiency and reduce long-term costs.<\/p>\n
The board also discussed planning for a 2026 road project, which may include repairs and resurfacing of village streets. Road maintenance is a routine part of village planning to keep roads safe and in good condition.<\/p>\n
