A driver was arrested Wednesday morning after crashing into a congregate care facility in Brooklyn Park, forcing residents to evacuate.<\/p>\n
Brooklyn Park police say the vehicle ran off the road at the intersection of 76th and Regent Avenues and into the bedroom of the home just after 3 a.m.<\/p>\n
In addition to putting a large hole in the building, the crash also caused a gas leak, which forced all residents in the facility to evacuate, police say.<\/p>\n
Fire crews and CenterPoint Energy worked to shut off the natural gas until the damage can be repaired.<\/p>\n
5 EYEWITNESS NEWS crews saw construction workers already at the building later Wednesday morning.<\/p>\n
One resident and the driver of the vehicle were each treated for minor injuries, according to police.<\/p>\n
The driver was then arrested.<\/p>\n
