Severe thunderstorms are moving across eastern New York on Tuesday, bringing damaging winds, large hail and a brief tornado risk.<\/p>\n

A severe thunderstorm watch (conditions are favorable) is in effect until 10 p.m., while warnings (a storm is occurring) have been issued for parts of the region.<\/p>\n

Hail will damage vehicles. Wind gusts could down trees and cause damage to roofs and siding. Seek shelter indoors and avoid travel during the strongest storms.<\/p>\n

Doppler radar shows a line of storms extending from near Fahnestock State Park to near West Point to near Vernon Valley, moving east at 35 mph, according to the National Weather Service.<\/p>\n

9:01 p.m.: Strong thunderstorms may produce wind gusts up to 40 mph as they move across Orange and western Putnam counties.<\/p>\n

Doppler radar has tracked a line of storms extending from near Montgomery to near Milford, moving east at 50 mph, according to the National Weather Service.<\/p>\n

8:48 p.m.: Strong thunderstorms may produce wind gusts up to 40 mph as they move across parts of the region.<\/p>\n

Doppler radar shows a line of storms extending from near Red Hook to near Hyde Park, moving southeast at 35 mph, according to the National Weather Service.<\/p>\n

8:46 p.m.: A thunderstorm that prompted a severe warning across the Capital Region has weakened below severe limits, though it may still produce gusty winds.<\/p>\n

At 8:42\u00a0p.m., the National Weather Service said the storm affecting northern Litchfield County in Connecticut, southern Berkshire County in Massachusetts, and northeastern Dutchess and southeastern Columbia counties in New York no longer poses an immediate severe threat. The warning was set to expire at 8:45 p.m.<\/p>\n

A severe thunderstorm watch remains in effect until 10 p.m. for northern Connecticut, western Massachusetts and east-central New York.<\/p>\n

8:27 p.m.: Severe thunderstorms continue moving east across Ulster County and may produce damaging wind gusts and small hail.<\/p>\n

At 8:20\u00a0p.m., a line of storms extended from near Woodstock to West Shokan to near Eldred, moving east at 50 mph, according to the National Weather Service in Albany. The warning remains in effect until 8:45 p.m., though it has been canceled for southwestern Greene County.<\/p>\n

Penny-size hail and 60 mph wind gusts are likely.<\/p>\n

8:02 p.m.: Storms extended from near Margaretville to near Pleasant Mount, moving southeast at 45 mph, according to the National Weather Service in Albany. A severe thunderstorm warning remains in effect until 8:45 p.m.<\/p>\n

Communities in the path include Kingston, New Paltz, Ellenville, Saugerties, Wallkill, Plattekill, Hurley, Woodstock, Modena, High Falls, Kerhonkson, Tillson, West Hurley, Napanoch, Port Ewen and Lake Katrine.<\/p>\n

7:30 p.m.: The severe thunderstorm that crossed the Capital Region has expired. The severe thunderstorm watch continues until 10 p.m.\u00a0<\/p>\n

A severe thunderstorm warning remains in effect until 8 p.m. in the western Catskills.<\/p>\n

That thunderstorm may produce 60 mph wind gusts as it moves across Broome, Delaware and Sullivan counties in New York, and Susquehanna and Wayne counties in Pennsylvania.<\/p>\n

The storm was located near Harvard, or near Walton, at 7:25\u00a0p.m., moving east at 50 mph, according to the National Weather Service.<\/p>\n

7:11 p.m.: As one storm moves into Massachusetts, another is moving across parts of central New York and northeastern Pennsylvania.<\/p>\n

At 7:07\u00a0p.m., storms were located along a line from\u00a0Hawley to near Becket to near Housatonic, moving east at 65 mph, according to the National Weather Service. The severe thunderstorm warning for Columbia and Greene counties in New York, Berkshire County, Massachusetts, and Windham, Vermont, is active until 7:30 p.m.<\/p>\n

Those storms still may produce 60 mph wind gusts as they move across western Massachusetts and adjacent parts of eastern New York. A 59 mph wind gust was reported at Pittsfield Airport at 6:58 p.m.<\/p>\n

Communities in the path include Pittsfield, Hudson, Chatham, Adams, Lee, Lenox, Cheshire, Coxsackie and\u00a0Kinderhook.<\/p>\n

Farther west, at 7:06 p.m., a severe thunderstorm was located over Deposit, moving east at 45 mph.<\/p>\n

A severe thunderstorm warning is in effect until 8\u00a0p.m. for southeastern Broome, southern Delaware and northwestern Sullivan counties in New York, and northeastern Susquehanna and northern Wayne counties in Pennsylvania, according to the National Weather Service.<\/p>\n

6:53 p.m.: Strong thunderstorms that may produce 60 mph wind gusts are moving across the Berkshires and mid-Hudson Valley.<\/p>\n

At 6:51\u00a0p.m. Tuesday, storms were located along a line from Florida to near Cheshire to near Chatham to about 10 miles south of Westerlo, moving southeast at 50 mph, according to the National Weather Service.<\/p>\n

6:25 p.m.: A severe thunderstorm warning is in effect until 7:30 p.m. for portions of the Capital Region, the Berkshires and nearby areas, according to the National Weather Service.\u00a0The storms may produce 60 mph wind gusts as they move southeast.<\/p>\n

At 6:23\u00a0p.m. Tuesday, storms were located along a line from near Hoosick Falls to Averill Park to Selkirk to Breakabeen, moving southeast at 40 mph.<\/p>\n

6:15 p.m.: Strong thunderstorms capable of producing 60 mph wind gusts are moving through the Capital Region.<\/p>\n

At 6:12\u00a0p.m., storms were located along a line from near\u00a0Mechanicville to Selkirk to Jefferson, moving east at 45 mph, according to the National Weather Service.<\/p>\n

The severe thunderstorm warning for that area is active through 6:30 p.m.<\/p>\n

A severe thunderstorm warning is in effect until 7\u00a0p.m. for central Bennington County and Windham County, according to the National Weather Service.<\/p>\n

At 5:59\u00a0p.m., storms were located along a line from\u00a0Londonderry to near Stratton to near Bennington, moving east at 50 mph.<\/p>\n

5:48 p.m.: Strong thunderstorms may produce 60 mph wind gusts as they move through the Capital Region.<\/p>\n

A severe thunderstorm warning is in effect until 6:30 p.m. for Albany, Schenectady, Rensselaer, Schoharie and southeastern Saratoga counties, according to the National Weather Service.<\/p>\n

At 5:44\u00a0p.m., storms were located along a line from near\u00a0Pattersonville-Rotterdam Junction to Schoharie to Richmondville, moving east at 45 mph.<\/p>\n

Communities in the path include Albany, Schenectady, Troy, Clifton Park, Rotterdam, East\u00a0Greenbush, Cohoes, Watervliet, Colonie, Latham, Guilderland and surrounding areas.<\/p>\n

5:16 p.m.: The severe thunderstorm warning has been extended until 6:15 p.m. as strong storms may produce 60 mph wind gusts and quarter-size hail moving into southern Vermont.<\/p>\n

At 5:11 p.m., a severe thunderstorm was located near Hudson Falls, moving east at 45 mph, according to the National Weather Service.<\/p>\n

The warning covers central Washington County in New York, along with northern Bennington County and northwestern Windham County in Vermont.\u00a0<\/p>\n

5:05 p.m.: Strong thunderstorms may produce 60 mph wind gusts and quarter-size hail as they move through the Glens Falls area.<\/p>\n

At 4:57 p.m., a severe thunderstorm was located over Glens Falls North, moving east at 50 mph, according to the National Weather Service.<\/p>\n

The storm is expected to affect Glens Falls, Hudson Falls, Warrensburg, Salem, Lake George Village, Fort Edward, Corinth, Granville, Hartford, Queensbury, South Glens Falls and surrounding communities.<\/p>\n

4:35 p.m.: Strong thunderstorms may produce 60 mph wind gusts and quarter-size hail as they move across the Capital Region.<\/p>\n

At 4:32\u00a0p.m., a severe thunderstorm was located near Day Center, about 16 miles southwest of Warrensburg, moving east at 55 mph, according to the National Weather Service.<\/p>\n
