{"id":198415,"date":"2026-04-15T19:16:10","date_gmt":"2026-04-15T19:16:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/198415\/"},"modified":"2026-04-15T19:16:10","modified_gmt":"2026-04-15T19:16:10","slug":"hunters-steak-ale-house-in-bay-ridge-closes-after-30-years-brooklyn-paper","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/198415\/","title":{"rendered":"Hunter\u2019s Steak &#038; Ale House in Bay Ridge closes after 30 years \u2022 Brooklyn Paper"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\t\t\t\t<img loading=\"lazy\" width=\"1200\" height=\"740\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/Screenshot-2026-04-15-at-2.53.33-PM.jpg\" class=\"crop-center wp-post-image\" alt=\"Screenshot 2026-04-15 at 2.53.33\u202fPM\" decoding=\"async\"  \/>\t\t\t<\/p>\n<p>Hunter\u2019s Steak &amp; Ale House in Bay Ridge closed on April 13 after 30 years in business.<\/p>\n<p>Google Maps<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">After 30 years of entertaining the Bay Ridge community, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hunterssteakhouse.com\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Hunter\u2019s Steak &amp; Ale House<\/a> announced it would be closing its doors officially on April 13.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Founded in 1996, Hunter\u2019s \u201cgrew from just another restaurant into a cherished gathering place for generations of neighbors,\u201d according to its website. \u201cFor three decades, the restaurant has been the backdrop for countless family celebrations, first dates and business meetings, earning a reputation for its excellent food, warm atmosphere and, in recent years, its live entertainment,\u201d its online description reads on.<\/p>\n<p>That legacy was echoed in a final message left at the restaurant\u2019s Fourth Avenue entrance, where a handwritten letter greeted passersby on Monday.\n<\/p>\n<p class=\"p5\">\u201cDear friends and neighbors, it is with a heavy heart and deep sense of gratitude that we announce Hunter\u2019s Steak and Ale House is closed,\u201d the sign read. \u201cThank you for 30 years of loyalty, laughter and friendship. It has been an honor to serve you.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p6\">In 2025, the restaurant faced talk of closure but said it had \u201cno plans to do so\u201d anytime soon.\n<\/p>\n<p class=\"p5\">Steve Gannon, longtime co-owner of Hunter\u2019s Steak &amp; Ale House, said the restaurant has been his \u201clife\u2019s work.\u201d\n<\/p>\n<p class=\"p5\">\u201cSaying goodbye is incredibly difficult,\u201d he said in a statement to Brooklyn Paper.\n<\/p>\n<p>Co-owner Tom O\u2019Sullivan added that the two aren\u2019t \u201cjust closing a business\u201d \u2014 \u201cwe\u2019re closing a chapter of our lives we have deeply loved.\u201d\n<\/p>\n<p>Hunter\u2019s Steak &amp; Ale House is at least the third Bay Ridge establishment to close this year, joining The Leif and Emphasis Restaurant, which announced their closures in January j<a href=\"https:\/\/www.brooklynpaper.com\/the-leif-irish-pub-emphasis-close\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">ust days apart<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In comments on a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/groups\/1476576505739841\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">South Brooklyn Facebook page<\/a> dedicated to promoting local eateries, residents shared fond memories of Hunter\u2019s and bid the neighborhood institution farewell.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c30 years in a great run,\u201d wrote one user.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Hunter\u2019s Steak &amp; Ale House in Bay Ridge closed on April 13 after 30 years in business.
