Deep Ellum has been through more than a rough patch these last few years. A new niche opening like this one is good news for everyone.

The intriguing new Queen’s Head Pub will open at 2713 Elm Street in Deep Ellum at the end of May.

The pub’s address on Elm Street was once the Green Room, a rock-and-roll-themed bar that had been there since the 90s and closed in 2023. Now, the space will drink with its pinkies out and share a radius with nearby Trees, Armoury D.E., Revolver Taco Lounge and Trophy.

Queen’s Head Pub is being opened by Deep Ellum Collective, the group that recently launched The Terrace, an elevated event venue with views of our skyline. It’s led by Deep Ellum veteran Eric Bradford (you know, The Bomb Factory). His goal is to open a series of projects that will help revitalize the entertainment district while still maintaining its inhereit grit

This project already has many taglines, one of which is “the best English pub this side of the pond.” And no, it’s not the same thing as the Irish pubs in Dallas. It will be distinctly British, but comfortably Texan.

A Mix of British and Deep Ellum

Project designer Droese Raney has a vision for an immersive environment that blends the warmth of a traditional English public house with the history of this historic building in Dallas. This project took over all of the former Green Room space and the neighboring property, which gives Raney about 6,000 square feet to bring her vision to life.

The 19th-century bar that was the framework for the previous tenant will continue to take center stage. Surrounding it will be cozy nooks, a lounge, communal areas and a private dining space. Upstairs will be a 2,000-square-foot rooftop patio with covered and open-air seating for year-round use.

Raney’s goal is to use materials like reclaimed wood, brass accents, tin ceilings and hand-painted mirrors to maintain an intentionally unpolished and worn-in vibe. A lot of the furniture and details have been sourced from antique dealers in Round Top, Texas.

If it’s done right, we hope we feel like a British traveler from the 1800s who just stumbled into a pub for a pint on a rainy night, but with a little more aura.

Pub Fare Included

The release we received highlighted Guinness beef stew, handheld classics like the QHP Burger and toffee bread pudding on the menu. More options explore authentic, but elevated British pub fare like fish and chips and shepherd’s pie. Don’t ask us how this is different from the menus at all the Irish pubs, but whatever you do, don’t compare them.

Rounding out the experience will be a beverage program that offers imported and domestic draft beers, classic English ales, cocktails and wine.

With a culinary lineup and vibe-y branding, the Queen’s Head Pub aims to become a cornerstone of Deep Ellum’s social scene for televised matches, live entertainment and a lively atmosphere. If executed well, it just might. It’s a great addition to Deep Ellum.

Queen’s Head Pub is aiming for a late May opening at 2713 Elm Street in Dallas. Once open, it will operate starting at 11 a.m. Tuesday through Sunday. Official business hours have not been announced yet.

Stay updated on the pub’s progress on its website or on Instagram at @queensheadpubde.

Queen’s Head Pub will bring a little British dark humor to Deep Ellum.
