A national wildlife refuge in Western New York is home to a pair of bald eagles who are also new parents. It\u2019s a big draw, and also a reminder of how fragile nature can be.<\/p>\n<p>Richard Moss spends a lot of time at\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.fws.gov\/refuge\/iroquois\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Iroquois National Wildlife Refuge<\/a>. It is a somewhat hidden treasure, where nature soothes the soul.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGetting out into nature \u2014 it lowers my blood pressure anyway,\u201d said Moss, president of the refuge friends group.\u00a0\u201cIt takes you out of yourself because you&#8217;re paying attention to the birds and the trees and everything else. You&#8217;re not worrying about all the nonsense that&#8217;s running around in your mind.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The refuge is located between Rochester and Buffalo, a nearly 11,000-acre habitat for 266 species of birds, including a number of bald eagles. One pair in particular draws people from all over to the refuge.\u00a0There\u2019s a camera pointed at a nest about 3,000 feet off in the distance.\u00a0In late February, a female laid three eggs, all of which hatched during the first week of April.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLearning about it, I think, is fascinating,\u201d said Moss. \u201cAnd other people clearly do too, because they&#8217;ve been watching it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/finwr.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">camera<\/a>\u00a0is operated by Friends of Iroquois National Wildlife Refuge, and video from it is visible both online and at the refuge headquarters.
